State film awards: Salim Kumar, Kavya adjudged best actors

 The National Film awards 2010 will be announced today. Seven Malayalam films, Pranchiyettan, Makara Manju, Kavya Madhavan's Gaddama, Veetilekkulla Vazhi, Athmakatha, Janaki and Adaminte Makan Abu have been nominated for the National Film Awards, 2010.

However, TD Dasan Standard VI B, Electra and Yugapurushan, did not figure in the list of nominations. The national film awards jury reportedly has no film personalities from Kerala this time.

The Kerala State Film Awards were announced on May 22 in Thiruvananthapuram. It almost replay of the 58th National Film Awards, announced a couple of days earlier. Adaminte Magan Abu which won four awards at the National level got the same number of awards at the state level. Salim Kumar became the first actor to win national and state award for the same film (Adaminte Magan Abu) in the same year. Noted director Buddadev Dasgupta, the chairperson for this year's jury said: "Salim Kumar was simply superb in Adaminte Magan Abu, which also won the best film, best screenplay and best music director award." Kavya Madhavan won the best actress award for her outstanding performance in Kamal directed Gaddama. The best director awrd went to Shyama Prasad for his Electra. The second best actor award was given to Biju Menon for his performance in TD Dasan, while Mamta Mohandas got the second best actress for her role in Katha Thudarunu. Suraj Venjaranmoodu got the best comedian award for Oru Naal Varum. Renjith's Pranchiyettan and the Saint won the most popular film award. Best Music director award went to M Jayachandran , while best singer (male) is Hariharan and best singer (female) is Rajalakshmi.
