Gold price hits fresh record high in Kerala
Kochi, Monday, May 02, 2011: Gold prices again touched a record high on Monday with a sovereign at Rs 16,600 and a gram of gold priced at Rs 2075. There has been a rise of Rs 40 for a sovereign.
The price crossed Rs 15,000 last November. Gold price which touched Rs 15,600 during that time slowly receded. The gold price began to escalate with anti-government protests in Arab countries, including Libya.
The price of crude oil is on the rise due to ongoing unrest in Arab countries. It is speculated that with increase in oil prices, gold price would also record new heights.
Kerala has one of the highest consumptions of gold and silver ornaments in the country. Traditionally, gold had been the most ideal mode of investment among the people of Kerala and also as jewellery.
