SC defers decision on opening of B vault in Kerala temple


Treasure chestThirunavananthapuram, The Supreme Court has deferred its verdict on the opening of the unopened 'B' vault of the famed Kerala temple, Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple. The court has stated that the last of the 6 vaults will not be opened till further notice. The court has also sought details of the security arrangements made by the state to safeguard the massive treasure trove that has emerged from the Padmanabhaswamy temple. 

The court has however added that essential articles in use for day-to-day activities of the temple that are presently stored in one particular vault can only be opened. The court has also sought recommendations on the methods to safeguard the treasure by both the Travancore royal family and the state government.


The court will further consider the matter on Thursday on the opening of the vault. The court-appointed sever member panel had faced trouble after continuous attempts to open the 'B' vault failed. They had then approached the Supreme Court seeking advice on what needs to be done.

Now it will take a while before the controversy on the vault is cleared after rumours and controversies emerged on the secret cellar.
