Gurgaon, Apr 29: The world's largest social networking website, Facebook, said on Thursday, Apr 28 that it crossed 25 million user mark in India. According to Facebook officials, Mark Zuckerberg's firm almost became the most popular social networking site in India.
Speaking at Ad:tech, the technology and advertising event held in Gurgaon, Facebook's vice-president of advertising and global operations, David Fischer, said "We are also looking forward to building strong relationship with India's strong network of developers and entrepreneurs who are increasingly harnessing Facebook to create unique sharing experiences on the social web."
David Fischer also revealed some traffic details of Facebook, which has more than 600 million active users around the globe. According to him, the average time spent by users on Facebook in India are three hours per month. Comparing with other websites like Google, which gets 1 hour 50 minutes, and YouTube with 1 hour 20 minutes per month in India, it is a huge achievement in less time.
He also mentioned enormous marketing opportunities offered by Facebook. Fischer noted brands like Times of India, The Economic Times, ESPNCricinfo, Pepsi and Aircel, which used Facebook as a marketing tool.
