Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday, April 30, 2011: A 15-year-old boy was brutally beaten up in a school for mentally-challenged children near Pangappara in Thiruvananthapuram. The boy has been identified as Rakesh, a student of C H Mohammed Koya Memorial school for the mentally challenged.
The boy, who sustain burn injuries and bruises in his body has been admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical college hospital, police told. The school staff identified as Bindu is said to have assaulted the boy.
The boy’s parents had noticed the burn marks in his genital areas and bruises when he returned home after school last Wednesday. The parents have filed a complaint in the Kazhakoottam police station in connection with this incident.
Meanwhile Education Minister MA Baby has asked the school Principal to submit a detailed report into the incident. Speaking to the mediapersons Minister added that the incident would be probed by the General Education Secretary, James Joseph.
Further action will be initiated after receiving the report, he added.
